THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Thunder Bay Dive Club had thirteen divers in Winnipeg, the club’s largest travel group this season), and for some it was their first competition ever.
Our TBDC divers had remarkable results: Brock Balabuck (3 Gold), Madeleine Dagenais (1 Silver, 2 Bronze), Maria Farmer (8th Ribbon), Walker Ross (1 Gold, 1 Bronze), Lily Dixon (9th), Jennie Farmer (10th), Michael Doerr (2 Gold,1 Bronze), Jaden Doerr (1 Gold, 4th Ribbon, 9th), Kathryn Scofich (6th, 7th and 8th Ribbon), Sierra Okerlund (6th Ribbon), Angus Neil (3 Gold), Graeme Napper (1 Silver, 1 Bronze, 4th Ribbon) and finally Christopher Lake-Voros (1 Gold).
Walker Ross says “I always love seeing my opponents Vlad from Winnipeg and Freddie from Regina at these meets. It was also nice to hang out with my teammates and have fun cheering them on”.
“In the past two and half months Jaden has learned 6 new dives and competed against some of the best in Canada. On her last novice event she placed 1st and 17 points ahead of the next diver, her dedication paid off, I am so happy for her” added Coach Bluchier.
In Novice B group, Sierra placed 6th on 1m springboard at her first-ever competition.
“Sierra worked extremely hard to get to this competition, in fact she just learned two of the dives in the week leading up to the event and pulled them off like a natural, I am super proud of her.” said coach Bluchier.
Finally, “Chris placed first in the A group 3m springboard. It was his last competition with us after many seasons, as he has chosen to focus on his university studies next year.
Best wishes Chris – you’ve made us proud!” said Coach Napper.
Coach Napper would also like to add “Congratulations to all our competitors! It was a good learning experience to close out the regular competitive season.”
