Thunder Bay ChillTHUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Chill Reserve Males have advanced to the finals of the 2011 Ontario Outdoor Cup after defeating the Windsor Coboto Strikers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The team traveled this past weekend to Etobicoke, Ontario, to participate in the semifinal round of the provincial competition.

The Reserves were down a goal early after keeper Mackenzie Pytyck was judged to have fouled a Windsor player in his eighteen-yard box for a penalty shot. Going into the second half down 1-0, the Chill turned things around within minutes, as Patrick Vanbelenghem scored shortly after the half began. After a bout of strong pressure from the Chill, Paul Ochnicki made a great solo run down the flank and played the ball across for Vanbelenghem to slot in his second goal, and the game winner. The team played lockdown defense the rest of the way, led by strong play from the team’s centre back, Carlos Pernia.

The final for the Ontario Cup will be held Sunday, September 18th, 2011, at the Ontario Soccer Centre, and the Reserves will be playing against the North Mississauga Panthers. The Panthers clinched a spot in the final round after defeating Peterborough City 1-0 in their semifinal round.
