OTTAWA – The Thunder Bay Kings saw their season come to a close Thursday after dropping a pair of decisions at the All-Ontario Peewee Hockey Championship in Ottawa.
Game 1 of the day saw Thunder Bay let a two-goal lead get away before eventually falling 4-2 to the Ottawa Jr. Senators while suffering a 5-1 setback to the unbeaten Mississauga Senators.
In the match-up vs. Ottawa, the contest was scoreless after one period before the Kings connected for back-to-back power play markers off the sticks of Matthew Lysak and Emerson DeGiacomo.
However, the 67s added two of their own in the middle off the session then capped off the comeback with a pair in the third, including one into an empty net, to secure the win.
Carter George made 24 stops in goal for Thunder Bay in defeat.
In their finale against Mississauga, the Senators stormed out to a 3-0 lead after one.
Lysak got one back for the Kings, during a man advantage, early in the middle session before the Mississauga tacked on a tally in the second and the third to wrap up the victory.
Thunder Bay netminder Chase Furlong saw 29 shots in the season-ending setback.
DRAFTED: Three players from the Kings midget programs were taken during the two Ontario Hockey League Priority Selections.
Nicholas DeGrazia of the major midgets was taken in the first round, 14th overall, by the Sudbury Wolves Wednesday evening in the OHL’s under-18 draft.
Meanwhile, Alex Pineau and Atwill from the minor midget squad were both eight round picks in the OHL U-16 Draft on Saturday.
Pineau was taken 157th overall by Sudbury while Pineau was tabbed five picks later by the London Knights.
