THUNDER BAY – It is a story that includes all the best components. First it demonstrates how small our world really is, and second it demonstrates how Thunder Bay with a population of over 109,000 people is still one of the friendliest places in Ontario.
Here is the story, on Monday, Peter Pullia called. Peter runs the Victoriaville Hair Salon. He had just met a couple from Great Britain who are riding across Canada to raise money and awareness for MS.
Tom states, on their day off in our city, “A very well earned day off in Thunder Bay taking in the sights, finally figuring out how to use the ATMs, and taking advantage of The Beer Store. To top it all off Tom visited the world’s most helpful hairdresser.”
For Tom and Leigh who are from Shefield, England the journey across Canada on a tandem bike is part of a multi-purpose trip. Tandem with Abandon is the result of one couple’s commitment to help improve the lives of people suffering with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) combined with an ambition to cross Canada whilst raising awareness of the sustainability of vegan lifestyle choices.
The trip is headed to Vancouver with a proposed finishing date in July.
What is continually interesting, especially to me is how the Internet can span great distances, and allow people to get to meet each other.
Sitting with Tom and Leigh, they are a quietly determined couple who hope upon arriving in British Columbia to find employment and settle down in Canada.
