RED LAKE – “Red Lake has so much to offer to its residents and visitors alike,” stated Nault. “We want to continue to build on that momentum by modernizing community infrastructure which will attract new events and more visitors. The investment announced today will help with the construction of an all-weather, fully accessible market and events pavilion in Centennial Park for everyone to enjoy.”

Bob Nault, Member of Parliament (Kenora riding), on behalf the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor, announced an investment of $250,000 for a pavilion in Centennial Park.

Erecting the pavilion will allow Red Lake to complete its Centennial Park cluster, which currently includes a green area, walking trails, skate park, baseball diamond, playground and fully-equipped indoor recreation facility. The new structure will provide an improved location and allow for the expansion of the already popular community farmers’ market. It will also increase commercial activity, create new revenue and support local businesses by helping to attract more and bigger events and festivals to Red Lake.

“In addition to this investment, Budget 2019 will help communities address infrastructure priorities through the Gas Tax Fund. Locally, municipalities in the Kenora riding will receive a total of over $4.7 million for 2018-2019 – almost double last year’s investment. For example, this year alone, Red lake will receive a total of $594,976.00, through the Gas Tax Fund.”

“It’s because of these types of strategic infrastructure investments that will make the pavilion in Centennial Park a cornerstone of Red Lake, and I will be the first in line to get my tickets for the next big event,” concluded Nault.

“The Government of Canada is committed to supporting communities in their efforts to stimulate economic and business growth and create opportunities for its residents. I am proud that our government is investing to develop Canada’s tourism sector and encourage more visitors to come and enjoy what our beautiful country has to offer,” commented Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor.\

“We are very pleased for this investment from FedNor to help us complete our Centennial Park cluster by supporting the construction of our market and events pavilion. The benefits of this additional outdoor, accessible public space cannot be overstated. It will help us attract and develop a variety of activities, events and festivals, and draw additional visitors to the community which will be very beneficial for our local businesses,” says Fred Mota, Mayor of the Municipality of Red Lake.
