KENORA – Keeping your camp or cottage safer in the winter is important. On Sunday, February 3, 2019, the Kenora OPP received a complaint of a theft from a vehicle on Lake of the Woods near French Portage Narrows.
Upon further investigation, it was determined a cottage was broken into in the area of Chapel Island and firearms were stolen.
As a result of this investigation, three adult males have been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Theft under $5,000, Section 334(b)
- Break and Enter and steal a Firearm, Section 98(1)(b)
- Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime, Section 96(a)
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, Section 91(1)
On Thursday, February 7, 2019, police recovered the outstanding stolen firearm.
They will appear in Kenora court on February 8, 2019, to answer to the charges.
