THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Lakehead Thunderwolves will host the Nipissing Lakers in a two-game series at the Fort William Gardens this weekend, with the opening face-off set for 7:00 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Thunderwolves opened the season with a series sweep of the Lethbridge Pronghorns, winning by scores of 5-4 and 6-5 (in an O.T. shootout) last weekend.
Nipissing has a perfect record in its three non-conference games played this season with 3-0 and 3-2 wins over Laurentian, as well as a 3-2 overtime victory over Toronto.
Wolves start biting when they’re pups
Five Lakehead freshman didn’t waste any time making their mark on opening weekend, taking a bite out of the Pronghorns and notching their first points as Thunderwolves. Dexter Kuczek, Tomas Soustal, Jordan Larson, Jordan King and Caleb Boman all got their names on the scoresheet against Lethbridge.

The Thunderwolves hold the advantage in the all-time series with Nipissing, posting a record of 6-2 versus the Lakers.
The most recent meeting between the two programs took place at the Fort William Gardens in the 2016 Christmas Challenge, with the Wolves coming out on top in both games by identical 4-2 margins.
About the Lakers
Nipissing returns its top three scorers from last season in forwards Dan Desrochers, Erik Robichaud and Colin Campbell. Defenceman Matt Donnelly anchors the Lakers’ blue line, while goalie Brent Moran handles the bulk of the duties between the pipes.
