THUNDER BAY – The James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding vehicle and property owners to lock their vehicles and keep their property secure.

Several occurrences of thefts from motor vehicles as well as theft of motor vehicles throughout the James Bay Detachments area have been reported to police during the past few months.

Motorists and property owners are reminded to remove their keys from their vehicle and to lock all windows and doors when exiting.

The following tips will help protect your property:

  • Remove all valuables or keep them out of sight
  • Don’t leave your keys in your vehicle
  • Don’t leave personal identification in your vehicle
  • Roll up the windows and lock the doors
  • Keep garage windows and doors locked
  • Install motion sensors for outdoor lights around your property

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for theft incidents should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
