THUNDER BAY – AVIATION – Wasaya Airways is pleased to announce the appointment of its new President and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Morris, and its new Chief Operating Officer, Brad Martin, both effective September 5, 2018.
Tom Morris has 22 years of airline experience with Wasaya Airways including 14 years as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Morris is from the community of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug and along with experience and knowledge, brings with him a deep understanding and connection of working with and developing opportunities for First Nation communities.
Mr. Morris left for retirement in 2015 but realized he still had a lot to offer Wasaya and the First Nation communities they serve. “I am honoured to have been selected by the Chiefs and Exchange Income Group to return and lead Wasaya,” Tom Morris said. “I have invested many years into Wasaya as a company and helping the people and communities in our region. I am looking forward to moving forward and build on opportunities and continue with the growth and success of Wasaya.”
Mr. Martin comes to Wasaya with forty-one years of aviation experience and led Bearskin Airlines as their CEO since 2014. He is excited to take on his new role at Wasaya on a half-time basis to start and will join the company full time in January 2019.

The selection process was led by Chiefs on behalf of the twelve owner First Nations and their partner, Exchange Income Corporation. The decision had the unanimous support of the Wasaya Board of Directors, the leadership of the Wasaya First Nations with their partner, Exchange Income Group.
