THUNDER BAY – Northern Policy Institute (NPI) is celebrating its fifth year anniversary in 2018. In order to celebrate this milestone and thank those who have contributed to our success, NPI will be hosting a Fifth Anniversary Fundraising Gala, presented by North Superior Workforce Planning Board. The Gala will take place in Thunder Bay, Ontario on October 18, 2018.

The theme of the Gala is “Moving Forward Together; the hard work of reconciliation”. Guests of the Gala will enjoy an informative address from Dr. Matthew Coon Come, one of the most significant leaders of the Cree Communities. The Cree-Quebec relationship is a model routinely held out for others to follow. Coon Come will provide the Cree perspective on the sacrifices, compromises and hard stances needed to make real progress towards a true nation-to-nation relationship and the benefits accruing to both sides by sharing power and the risks associated with exercising that power.

The Gala will take place at The Chanterelle on Park. In addition to hearing from Dr. Coon Come, guests at the Gala will enjoy an evening of networking opportunities, a locally sourced meal, and a look back on the past five years of NPI’s successes. All funds raised will go directly toward future projects and programs of NPI as we look ahead to the next five years.

Be part of this exciting evening as we celebrate the history of NPI and what we have achieved together with our community of friends and supporters. Let’s look ahead together to what we, as Northern Ontarians, will accomplish in the next five years. Tickets are now on sale by visiting www.northernpolicy.ca/gala or calling 807-343-8858.

NPI is a not-for-profit organization, and as such, relies on the generosity of our communities and partners to continue our important work.

A second fundraising Gala will be taking place April 11, 2019, in Sudbury, Ontario, and will feature Jean Charest who will share his perspective on the Cree-Quebec relationship.
