Youth Faces Arson Charges in Sioux Lookout

SIOUX LOOKOUT – On August 14, 2018, at approximately 7:39 pm, officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sioux Lookout Detachment were dispatched to a house fire in the area of Cornerstone Lane, Sioux Lookout.

While attending the scene, officers observed the home to be filled with smoke. The Sioux Lookout Fire Department entered the home and advised that there was clothing on fire and the fire had been put out. The investigation revealed that the fire had been intentionally set, and fire alarms were damaged causing them to be inoperable.

As a result of the investigation, a male youth (14) of Sioux Lookout has been charged with the following:

  • Arson – Damage to Property contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code

He was released by way of an Officer in Charge Undertaking to attend Sioux Lookout Provincial Court on September 11, 2018.
