THUNDER BAY – Unless you were the ultimate Neal Diamond fan, you were probably one of the thousands of Thunder Bay radio listeners who were very confused as Magic 99.9 FM played Neal Diamond’s Sweet Caroline all morning on Friday. The song play led to a bit of a social media viral set of postings as people tried to figure out what was happening.

Fortunately, there is a solution. Acadia Broadcasting reports, “Turn up the feel good! The greatest hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s can now be heard everywhere on Thunder Bay’s new 99.9 The Bay

Station Manager Scott Pettigrew says “We did some extensive research and asked the people of Thunder Bay what was missing. This was the music they wanted on their radio station so we created 99.9 The Bay.  The music is just one piece of the puzzle.  99.9 The Bay will be about putting a smile on your face all while keeping you informed about our community with Thunder Bay’s only live and local newsroom 7 days a week”.

Program Director John Ongaro points out that 99.9 The Bay“ is the music of our lives. If you took every hit song from your high school days, mixed it with the songs you danced to at shags, and added in tracks you played from that worn out mixed tape on mom’s car stereo – you would have about half of our playlist”

99.9 The Bay is on the air and online at 999thebay.ca, and facebook.com/999thebay and is committed to fair and accurate local and regional news coverage as well as support for community events and organizations.
