THUNDER BAY – NEWS – A Kingston Ontario woman appeared in Thunder Bay Court today on a number of fraud-related charges after police were contacted by a bank employee who was suspicious of documents provided to open a bank account.
Patrol officers attended the Royal Bank on Memorial Avenue just before 4:00 pm on August 30, 2018 t,o speak to bank employees about a female who was presently attempting to open a bank and sign up for a credit card. The employee conducted an internal investigation that determined the person in the bank was using fraudulent identification belonging to a woman in Southern Ontario.
Officers questioned the suspect and she was unable to spell the name, provide the correct birth date. or address as listed on the documents she provided.
Lisa Van Ogtrop, 35-years-old of Kingston, Ontario was arrested and has been charged with
· Obstruct Police
· Identity Theft
· Fraud Under $5,000
· Fraudulent Use of Certificate of Citizenship
· Possession with Intent to use Forged Document
She has been remanded into custody.
