HARTFORD – Health – Hartford and Southington are home to a number of respected plastic surgeons, including Mike Giuffrida. Being committed to their profession, these surgeons monitor developments in their industry, not just in terms of new technologies and procedures, but also in terms of new interests. They have recently found that there has been a significant increase in demand for non-invasive fat procedures, including body sculpting.

There has been an increase in the number of people in Hartford and Southington who want to change the way certain parts of their body is shaped, but who do not want to go under the knife. Instead, they use injectable medication, vacuum massage, infrared light, radio frequency, and ultrasound to achieve this, which are all non-invasive methods of reducing fat cells. There are numerous of these procedures around that tighten the skin and eliminate fat cells at the same time, but cellulite treatments are by far the most popular. In fact, they have increased by 20% since 2016.

In Hartford and Southington, just like in the rest of the country, a lot of people have unwanted fat. Some of this is due to obesity, some of it is due to the fact that the media has painted an image of the perfect body that is virtually fat-free. Either way, there are now numerous non-invasive procedures available that can redistribute and/or eliminate the body’s fat. It is a known fact that patients like to be given different options, and it seems many people use these procedures as a type of maintenance before deciding whether to have a more invasive procedure as well.

Some of the most popular forms of non-invasive body sculpting techniques today are:

  1. Non-invasive procedures to reduce fat using special technology that effectively freezes the body’s natural fat deposits. There has been a 7% increase in demand for these procedures since 2016.
  2. Non-invasive cellulite treatments in which fat is eliminated using laser technology. There has been a 19% increase since 2016 and a 55% increase since 2000.
  3. Non-invasive procedures that aim to tighten the skin by focusing on sagging areas and targeting fat. There has been a 9% increase in demand for those procedures since 2016.

Clearly, the procedures people want to have completed have changed. No longer are individuals as ready to go under the knife, this despite the fact that advances in medical science mean that more invasive procedures are safer than ever before. It seems that people simply prefer to go the risk-free way, even if the results are often not as long lasting as they would be with surgical procedures.

For plastic surgeons, this means that they have had to shift their focus on the tools and technologies they use in their offices as well. In turn, this means there has been a greater demand in retraining and continuous education credits for noninvasive procedures. The impact of such changes, hence, is quite significant and certainly interesting to monitor.
