Forest Fire Update

THUNDER BAY – There were three new fires confirmed by the afternoon of Friday, June 15.

  • Fort Frances Fire Number 17 is not under control at 8.0 hectares and is located near Dovetail Lake.
  • Nipigon Fire Number 10 is not under control at 20 hectares and is located near Auger Lake.
  • Sioux Lookout Fire Number 17 has been declared out at 0.5 hectares and was located in the community of Weagamow Lake.

Under current weather conditions, these fires are exhibiting minimal fire behaviour.

There were 10 fires confirmed by the end of the day on Thursday, June 14.

The forest fire hazard is low to moderate in the western portions of the region and moderate to high in the eastern portions of the region.
