April 15 2018 – Winter Storm Warning issued for Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Winter seems to have its claws dug in tight into Northwestern Ontario. Environment Canada has issued a Heavy Snowfall Warning for Thunder Bay and there are weather advisories and warnings out across the region around Lake Superior.

Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

A major winter storm is expected.

A major winter storm is expected beginning today.

A slow-moving weather system approaching from southwest of the Great Lakes is expected to bring winter storm conditions today through Monday night.

Snow is forecast to begin near the eastern shores of Lake Superior near noon today and then spread northeastward through tonight.

Significant snowfall accumulations of 20 to 30 cm, as well as brisk winds gusting up to 50 km/h, will result in localized blowing snow and difficult travel conditions today through Monday.
