THUNDER BAY – On April 13, 2018, at approximately 12:20 am, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Service received multiple alarms for a structural fire on John Street.
The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the first-floor doorway of this townhouse complex.
People on scene also reported that there were possibly 3 people inside.
A second alarm was called, bringing five Pumpers, an Aerial Ladder and a Command unit for a total of 23 firefighters on scene.
A rapid interior attack and search by the first arriving crew, brought the fire under control quickly, with primary and secondary searches finding nobody inside the building.
There were extensive fire and smoke damage to the first and second floors of the townhouse. There were no injuries to firefighters on scene.
The fire is currently under investigation.
