Progressive Conservatives Drop Patrick Brown

TORONTO – POLITICS – On Thursday, the Ontario PC Party’s Provincial Nominations Committee (PNC) met. The unanimous decision of the Provincial Nomination Committee was that Patrick Brown will not be an eligible candidate for nomination in Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte.

PC Party President Jag Badwal in a statement says, “Doug Ford has been clear, the membership of our Party must be respected, and heard.

“Earlier today, the Ontario PC Party’s Provincial Nominations Committee (PNC) met. The unanimous decision of the PNC was to reopen nominations in the following ridings:

• Brampton North
• Mississauga Centre
• Newmarket-Aurora

“The PNC has set aside the nomination in Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas as a result of the flawed process. Further details will be provided at a later date.”

Party leader Doug Ford states, “I am pleased to learn of the decisions made by the Provincial Nominations Committee. As Leader, I am fully focused on the June election and taking the fight to Kathleen Wynne. Together we will ensure that we are in the best position possible to defeat the Wynne Liberals and form a majority government.”

The Progressive Conservatives had found, following Brown’s resignation as leader that there were a number of issues, which did not follow the party constitution which had been allowed during his tenure. They included issues regarding the nomination of candidates.
