Walmart Shoplifting and Assault Nets Custody for Woman

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service uniformed patrol officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart located on West Arthur Street just before 8:40 pm on March 12, 2018. Police were called to assist a Walmart loss prevention officer who had just been assaulted with a weapon.

The twenty-year-old male victim advised police he had a female in custody for theft when she pulled a knife out of her purse and swung it at him and left running out of the store.

The employee was not injured in this interaction.

The female suspect was located on Confederation Drive a short time later by patrol officers. She was taken into custody and escorted to the Balmoral Police Station.

Ashley Antoinette Dixon, a 32-year-old woman from Thunder Bay has been charged with Theft under $5000, and Assault with a Weapon.

Dixon appeared in court and has been remanded into custody.
