THUNDER BAY – Have you ever wanted to know where an author gets his or her ideas? What goes into writing/publishing a novel or a short story or a poem? Where inspiration comes from? Now is your chance to get the answers to all your questions by simply asking an author.

The Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop and the Thunder Bay Public Library are pleased to be hosting the inaugural Ask an Author, a unique event that provides an opportunity to spend one-on-one time with some of Thunder Bay’s published authors.

“This is a terrific opportunity to meet an author and ask questions about their books or about writing in general,” said NOWW vice-president, Susan Rogers. “Whether you’re a reader or a writer yourself, you can sit down with a published author for a one-on-one conversation.”

Participating authors include Jean E. Pendziwol, H. Leighton Dickson, Ma-Nee Chacaby, Marion Agnew, Jordan Lehto, and Michelle Krys.

Their works range from children’s, youth, and adult fiction to creative non-fiction, fantasy, and playwriting.

“Instead of taking out a book from the library, you’ll borrow some of an author’s time where you can ask them about their writing,” Rogers said. “Even if you don’t know the writings of any of the authors, feel free to come out and ask them about the writing process.”

Anyone interested in participating in Ask an Author is welcomed to call the Thunder Bay Public Library at 684-6816 to book a 20-minute session with one or more of the authors.

Only half of the time slots will be pre-booked and there will be openings for walk-ins. Ask an Author is being held on Feb. 24 at the Waverly Resource Library from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.tbpl.ca or www.nowwwriters.com.
