KENORA – Ontario Provincial Police Kenora Detachment (OPP) assisted by the Highway Safety Division(HSD), Dryden and Red lake Detachments of the OPP, Northwest Region K9 and Northwest Region Emergency Response Team members have one person in custody following a Fail to stop for police incident on February 8, 2018.
Just before 3:30 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2018, members of the Kenora Detachment were on general patrol on Highway 17A near the Ritchie Road overpass when they observed a vehicle that appeared to have a shattered front windshield and severe front-end damage. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights. The vehicle failed to stop for police. The vehicle continued westbound on Highway 17A.
The vehicle was located in the City of Kenora and officers attempted again to conduct a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights. The vehicle again failed to stop for police and no pursuit was initiated. Police continued to search for the motor vehicle and it was later located on Hawk Lake Road where it failed to stop for police.
Officers were able to stop the motor vehicle at approximately 5:04 PM using a rolling block in the area of Little Joe Lake on Highway 17 and one male was arrested. There were no serious injuries.
Justin Daniel Graham -LANG twenty-three-years-old of no fixed address has been charged with the following criminal offences:
- Flight while pursued by peace office Sec. 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle Sec. 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
- Driving while disqualified Sec. 259 (4) Of the Criminal Code
