DULUTH, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Bantam Kings wrapped up a weekend set of games in Minnesota with a win and a narrow loss.

After having a scheduled contest with the Hermantown Hawks postponed, Thunder Bay met the Cloquet Lumberjacks Saturday night and skated a 4-2 victory.

Noah Broughton and Nolan Desjardins staked the Kings to an early 2-0 lead vs. Cloquet before the Lumberjacks cut into the deficit.

Hunter Matyasovszky put the Bantams back up by two once more after one period of play.

Each side scored once in the middle session with Jeremy Dunmore connecting for Thunder Bay.

Cloquet got one back in the third, but Kings’ netminder Gage Stewart shut the door the rest of the way to pick-up the win making 18 saves en route to victory.

Tyler Lewis chipped in with two assists in the triumph.

Finishing up play Sunday, a Thunder Bay comeback bid fell just short as they dropped a 4-3 decision to the Duluth East Greyhounds.

Duluth came out strong and built up a four-goal lead into the second period before Dunmore put the Kings on the board with 4:08 left in the middle session.

They kept coming and pulled closer in the third thanks to a Kohl Johnson marker.

Alex Atwill then added one more late before time ran out.

Atwill, Shaymus Stevenson, Broughton and Jack Cook all supplied assists in the setback.

Thunder Bay goaltenders Brayden McKever and Stewart split the netminding duties in the contest in a game in which the Kings outshot the Greyhounds 36-25.
