THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The OUA announced today that the UQTR Patriotes will forfeit the results of 20 games over the past two seasons, including their first 13 games from the 2017-18 campaign due to the participation of an ineligible player. The affected games from this season range from October 7 to November 18.

Two of those games were played at Lakehead on October 20 and 21, originally won by the Patriotes by scores of 3-1 and 4-1. The final scores of those contests will be amended to a 1-0 loss for UQTR, as it will with all the Patriotes’ 20 forfeitures, resulting in changes to the standings.

Before the forfeitures, Lakehead’s OUA record this season was 8-9-2, putting the Thunderwolves in a three-way tie with Western and Windsor for sixth place in the West Division. Lakehead’s record will now improve to 10-7-2 and leaves the Wolves alone in sixth place, 4 points ahead of seventh-place Western and Windsor.

All team and player statistics remain in place with the exception of the ineligible player, who will not be able to play for the rest of the season. UQTR’s postseason eligibility is not affected.
