DRYDEN – Mayor Greg Wilson has issued a statement following the ongoing issues surrounding comments by Nick Beyak and Senator Lynn Beyak.

“In support of our Mission Statement, the City of Dryden would like to emphasize that we are a welcoming community to all races, religious affiliations, genders, socioeconomic statuses, and disabilities.

“This encourages inclusiveness both within city limits and with partnering communities.

“The range of diversity in the City, like many communities in Northwestern Ontario, shapes our local culture, how we are viewed nationwide and is to be celebrated.”

The statement comes following a week in which petitions launched calling for Northwestern Ontario Senator Beyak to resign have grown to calls from grassroots activists in the region calling on people to boycott Dryden.
