THUNDER BAY – EDUCATION – Following six and a half years as President of Confederation College, Jim Madder has announced that he will step down on December 31, 2018.

Madder informed Confederation’s Board of Governors early Tuesday during a scheduled Board Retreat before sharing the news with the College community. In response, Board Chair George Patterson extended his appreciation for Madder’s many contributions.

“President Madder’s vision and leadership have deeply contributed to the growth of Confederation College,” said Patterson. “He has facilitated the expansion and renewal of Confederation College’s infrastructure through several projects over the years. His true legacy though will be defined by his commitment to providing access and success for all learners and by his cultivation of a long list of meaningful partnerships for the College.”

Patterson added “On behalf of the Board of Governors and our College community, I thank President Madder for his dedication and wish him well in the next chapter of his journey. His strategic direction and passion for education will have a lasting impact on our institution.”

Jim Madder was appointed as Confederation College’s fifth President on July 1, 2011, and was renewed for a second five-year term in 2016. The national search for his successor will begin shortly, facilitated through third-party consultation and led by the Board of Governors.
