COOK COUNTY – Through the generosity of the Minnesota Vikings and Hotel Ivy, Cook County Minnesota was able to provide one of its employee battling cancer a special trip to a Vikings Game on Sunday.
Jennifer Rue, a social worker employed as the Adult Mental Health Case Worker with Cook County Public Health & Human Services, has been battling brain cancer since March of this year. The severity of Jennifer’s illness has forced her to recently leave her job with the County while she courageously battles the disease. Jennifer loves the Vikings and all NFL football, but her illness has limited her ability to go to games. County Administrator Jeff Cadwell worked with Bruce Messelt with the Minnesota Association of County Administrators to contact the MN Vikings Community Relations Coordinator, as well as Jennifer’s sister, to arrange the trip for Jennifer.
The Minnesota Vikings provided complimentary tickets and on-field passes for Jennifer Rue and a friend to attend the game. The Hotel Ivy provided a complimentary room with concierge, valet, room service, complimentary hors-d’oeuvres, and refreshments.
“All of the staff of the Vikings, Hotel Ivy, and US Bank Stadium were extremely accommodating and gracious in anticipating Jen’s needs during her stay, and went out of their way to provide a fantastic memorable experience,” said Jeff Cadwell, County Administrator. “We are so grateful to all who were involved for making this possible for her.”
County colleagues also recently held a Taco Tuesday Fundraiser lunch to assist Jen and her family with the costs of medical expenses.
