THUNDER BAY, ON – NEWS – On Saturday, December 16, Walmart Canada will match donations made by individuals to Salvation Army Christmas kettles located in its stores nationwide up to a maximum of $100,000.
With The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign in Thunder Bay $88,000 short of its $200,000 goal, the organization is grateful for its continuing partnership with Walmart Canada.
Since 2010, Walmart Canada and its customers have donated more than $22 million to The Salvation Army, through the Christmas Kettle Campaign. The Salvation Army relies on the support of our generous donors who make it possible to provide food, shelter and clothing for families and individuals that live below or at the poverty line.
“We are grateful for this additional support from Walmart Canada on top of hosting kettles at each of their stores in Thunder Bay. The Kettle funds are necessary so that we are able to feed the hungry and provide support to struggling individuals and families throughout the coming year,” said Major Lori Mitchell, Executive Director for The Salvation Army Community & Residential Services in Thunder Bay.
The Salvation Army depends on the support of numerous corporate partners, including many individual retailers, who allow Christmas kettles to be placed at their stores each year.
Donations to the 2017 Christmas Campaign can be made at FilltheKettle.com, at our local kettles, by downloading The Salvation Army Kettle App, or via phone, walk-in or mail to The Salvation Army, 545 Cumberland St. N., Thunder Bay, ON P7A 4S2 – 807-345-6492 (credit card & debit accepted here).
