BLAINE, MN – The Peewee Queens were up bright and early to face Blaine at 9:35 am on Saturday – Thunder Bay’s second game of the Centennial Girls Super Chill Tournament. Queens would strike first on an early goal by Jenna Jackson but Blaine tied the game to make it a 1-1 tie after one. Blaine would go up 2-1 in the second on a powerplay goal which would be the final score as neither team mustered another goal.
In their evening tilt against Osseo-Maple Grove, with playoff implications on the line, the Peewees again struck early on in the game with Taylee Marks putting up the first marker. OMG would tie the game but a mere 15 seconds later Kaiya Kamande regained the lead for Thunder Bay. Again OMG would tie the game and again the Queens answered back with Alexis Prepp this time giving Peewees the lead. Kaitlin Whatley and Kamande would both score to put the game out of reach in a 5-2 victory giving the Queens a 2-1 record – good enough for a 12U semi-final date with Centennial Cougars on Championship Sunday at 9:35 am.
Over in the 15U division, it was tougher sledding for the Bantam A Queens in their morning bout with Blaine dropping the game 5-0 and suffering an 11-0 loss to Edina that afternoon. The Bantam As will play for 7th place on Sunday.
