THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The Thunder Bay District Municipal League will be holding their 100th Annual Meeting, Oct 27 & 28, with Gord Hume as the guest speaker at the Friday night dinner. The conference will be attended by municipal representatives from seventeen organized municipalities around and north of the north shore.
Mr. Hume is recognized as one of Canada’s leading voices on municipal government financing and governance, sustainable urban development, cultural planning, and creative cities. He is a very popular public speaker, an advisor to municipal governments and a respected and often provocative author whose books are in more than 22 countries around the world. He is an articulate and thoughtful commentator on civic government and community issues.
“We will be meeting at Fort William Historical Park this year,” said Wendy Wright, Chair of the Conference Committee. “Since the Fort has been holding meetings for over 200 years, it’s most appropriate that we hold our 100th-anniversary meeting and conference in this historic setting!”
Interlude music will be provided by Mood Indigo and will include some music from the period of the League’s history. Engaging speakers, presenting on a variety of topics of interest to municipal leaders, will complete the day and a half programme.
