THUNDER BAY – AVIATION – North Star Air is pleased to announce the signing of a strategic business agreement with Marten Falls First Nation. This agreement includes a revenue share agreement and the introduction of flights between Thunder Bay and Marten Falls First Nation.

Air transport in remote regions is of crucial social & economic importance to communities and the new flights will provide more choices and direct access to necessary services in Thunder Bay. The flight service is scheduled to start on Oct 16, 2017.

The revenue share agreement distributes a percent of the revenues generated from this agreement back into the community for future investments into social and economic development.

Marten Falls becomes the 11th community to sign a revenue share agreement with North Star Air. The other communities include Bearskin Lake, Cat Lake, Deer Lake, Kashechewan, Neskantaga, North Caribou Lake, North Spirit Lake, Poplar Hill, Sachigo Lake and Webequie

Marten Falls First Nation Chief Bruce Achneepineskum stated that “We are pleased to be working together with an established and reliable carrier as air transportation is essential for the economic growth and quality of life for our members.”

Frank Kelner said “Air transport is a vital service for First Nation communities and what makes this exciting is it offers Marten Falls a new entry point into Thunder Bay and other destinations which is essential for their social progress, economic prosperity and to improve the daily lives of its community.”
