LOS ANGELES – Geographic information science and technology, commonly known as GIST, is an exciting field to study and can open a number of different career paths for graduates. The potential career choices of a GIST graduate range from working with non-profit organizations to help them meet their environmental obligations, to paid work in industry or government advising on how best to proceed with various projects.

Geographic information technology is considered to be one of the high growth industries by the United States Department of Labor and it is therefore unsurprising that it continues to attract more and more students every year. This rise in popularity can be partly attributed to the rise of the online GIST degree, making the subjects more accessible to more people than ever before.
