THUNDER BAY – It is a match made perfect for a hot summer day. Without notice or warning the crew from the Chartwell Retirement Residences arrived at Thunder Bay’s famous Merla Mae drive-in restaurant on Memorial Drive.

The smiling and happy staff quietly announced to the patrons lined up for ice cream on a hot summer afternoon that their treats were on Chartwell.

It was a move unexpected by all but brought special smiles to the faces of all of the patrons as they got treated to a refreshing tasty treat and got their delicious ice cream for free.

For young Lamarith in the picture, this was his first time at the iconic Merla Mae and his first double twist chocolate and vanilla cone. One can certainly bet from the look on his face that it isn’t likely going to be his last.

All in all a really great gesture from the friendly folks at Chartwell.
