Fire Marshall Investigating Fatal Fire in Scoble Township

Ontario Fire MarshalTHUNDER BAY – Officers from The Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Neebing Fire Service responded to what has turned out to be a fatal residential fire on Highway 608 in Scoble Township.

At approximately 10:22 pm, on Monday, July 24, 2017, OPP and members of the Neebing Fire Service responded to a report of a fire at a residence on Highway 608. When police and fire arrived at the scene, the residence was fully engulfed in flames.

One person was located deceased in the residence by Neebing Fire Service. The identification of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The scene is being held until the arrival of the Ontario Fire Marshal.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the OPP Northwest Region Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.
