THUNDER BAY – “There is something about the power of concerts that unite people and encourage socialization. Here in Thunder Bay, residents love every opportunity to come together and ONtour is going to be a great part of our 150th summer,” says MPP Bill Mauro, member from Thunder Bay-Atikokan.
As part of a year-long line-up of events marking Ontario’s 150th anniversary and celebrating the province, the free ONtour concert series will provide the soundtrack for the Summer of ’17, stopping in more than 20 communities across the province and in Thunder Bay on August 9, showcasing some of Ontario’s brightest musical talent.
The ONtour concert will partner with Live on the Waterfront at Marina Park. ONtour Thunder Bay will feature Magic!, Kardinal Offishall and Midnight Shine. All of the ONtour concerts are free and open to music-lovers of all ages and there are no tickets required.
From Peterborough to Blind River, from Ajax to Kenora, from Hamilton to Sudbury, audiences will have the opportunity to attend a free concert featuring at least three acts. More than 50 Ontario artists will be part of the ONtour Concert Series and approximately 80,000 people are expected to attend the free concerts across the province. “Music is magic — able to cross generational, cultural, and linguistic boundaries. ONtour is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to share in this communal experience, to build community pride, and to create cherished memories for years to come,” says Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
