Aroland Death has Man in Custody

AROLAND FN – NEWS – The Ontario Provincial Police have Jeffrie Metasawagon of Aroland First Nation in custody following an investigation into the suspicious death of a thirty-year-old Aroland man on April 14 2017. Metasawagon faces charges of assault with a weapon, although depending on the results of the investigation could be facing more charges.

Byron Meshake was found in a residence on the First Nation by OPP Officers from the Greenstone detachment.

The OPP responded following calls of an injured male at the residence. Meshake was transported by EMS for medical treatment was was pronounced dead.

Both the Ontario Provincial Police and the Nishnawbe-Aski Police (NAPS) are investigating the incident and the circumstances leading up to the death.

A post-mortem examination on Meshake is pending.
