Change comes to NOSTA

THUNDER BAY – The North of Superior Tourism Association has a new slate of Officers and a new Board according to a press statement from NOSTA issued this afternoon. “We have assembled an incredible group of tourism leaders to manage the affairs of NOSTA” said newly elected President Iain Angus.

“Included on the new board are two former Presidents, at least three former Vice Presidents and a former Executive Director. And in addition the Board represents a broad cross section of both the membership and the industry – with representation from Outfitters, the hotel/motel sector, bed and breakfast, attractions, retail, allied and the not for profit sector,” Angus continued.

According to Angus, “While there are some administrative matters that need to be worked on immediately, the attention of the Board has already turned to the marketing needs of the region, something that we have heard loud and clear from our members and the tourism industry.”

Membership renewal is another priority for the Board. “With only 65 members out of a possible 205 having renewed to date we recognize that we have a lot of work to do to rebuild the confidence of the industry in NOSTA” said Angus. “We have already asked our staff to prepare a membership renewal plan for consideration by the Board.”

The release from NOSTA states, “The Board first met on May 11 following past practice and at that point a number of key administrative decisions were made along with the election of officers”.

“Since that meeting, a few former directors have voluntarily tended their resignations and “the Board will be seeking volunteers to fill those positions shortly. The Board will want to ensure that all areas of the NOSTA jurisdiction are represented – both geographically as well as business type” concluded Angus.

The Officers of NOSTA now include:

  • Iain Angus, President The Friends of Chippewa Park
  • Tim Lukinuk, Past President Amethyst Mine Panorama
  • Jeff Busniuk, Vice President, Viherjoki, Busniuk & Kelly Chartered Finance & Administration Accountant
  • Judy Boucher, Vice President, Ogoki Frontier Marketing
  • Marlis Bommes-Dudzinski Vice President, Kakabeka Falls Hotel Product Development
