Thunder Bay, ON – The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra’s (TBSO, the Symphony) Board of Directors (the Board) announces the following changes:
Executive Director Resignation
TBSO’s Executive Director/General Manager, Barry Streib, has tendered his resignation to the Board last month and his departure from the organization was effective February 15, 2017. The Board thanks Barry for his valuable contribution to the Symphony during his time as Executive Director/General Manager and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
The Board is working closely with the Symphony’s staff to manage the transition and has formed a search committee to identify the new Executive Director/General Manager.
In the meantime, Director of Development, Ken Boshcoff, has agreed to accept the position of interim Executive Director/General Manager until a new leader is appointed. Ken joined the Symphony in June of last year to lead a new revenue generating initiative to help expand the circle of Symphony supporters in the community, which to date has been extremely successful. Ken will continue to execute and build on this initiative while also providing hands-on leadership and oversight to the Symphony’s daily operations. As an experienced leader in business, government and philanthropy, with a deep appreciation for the Symphony, Ken is ideally suited to assist the organization in these important mandates.
Appointment of New Board President
TBSO’s long-standing Vice President, Linda Penner, has been appointed to President and Chair of the Board, a decision ratified by the Board on February 21, 2017. Linda succeeds Paul Inksetter who has served as President for many years and will remain on the Board as very active Past President.
Appointment of New Board Members
The Board welcomes the addition of five new members to the Symphony’s Board: Lori Della Vedova, Shy-Anne Hovorka Bartlett, Trevor Keller, Jonathan Knapp, and Jeff Sampson. These individuals bring a wealth of experience, energy and new ideas to the Board.
“I continue to be inspired by the skills and commitment from both the long standing members of our orchestra family, and from those new members who have now joined us,” said Linda Penner, TBSO Board President. Linda added, “ We look forward to working together as a team as we conclude this season and launch our 57th.”
