THUNDER BAY – If our recent federal election, three weeks ago now, on May the 2nd 2011 proved anything I would have to say it really brought to light that the majority of Canadians all want one thing. Canadians are wanted change and it was a proud day for Canadians. Record numbers made it to the polls and cast their votes for a new and better Canada, and this opportunity is now present.
What concerns me, however, is that even with this golden ticket in our hands, it is not even a full month later and from what I see, the whole “novelty” is already fading and it seems as though as the excitement of the election begins to wear, so does the majority of these same excited patriots who voted for a new and better Canada are no longer so excited.
Most of us have continued to go on with our lives, continuing to endure the same conditions that we advocated against three weeks ago. This is a dangerous pattern however, I am sure I am not alone when wondering, “Where do I begin?”
I believe that one person can make a difference and voice can be heard, however, it only makes sense that the more voices heard, the louder the message.
I also believe that most gain a lot of strength and courage to advocate for their beliefs when they are not alone and have a strong voice behind them.
It is really these two simple ideas that are really the heart of Advocacy Core Thunder Bay (A.C.T.B). This is a not for profit, self sustaining organization open to anyone of any age, status, situation, belief and so on. The only opinions that will not be invited or tolerated are those of hate and will not benefit our city in a positive manner.
Although, we are still in the very early stages if development, it is understood that this is a crucial time and it is important to have this up and running in the next two weeks or so.
