Human Trafficking Charges Laid by Police

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch have charged two Toronto area males with Human Trafficking of a southern Ontario female. The investigation was initiated from a missing person investigation.

On January 9th, 2017 Thunder Bay Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch was assisting in searching for a missing person from Southern Ontario who was believed to be in Thunder Bay.

The seventeen-year-old female was located by officers and safely returned to her home town. The missing person investigation generated a Multi-Jurisdictional investigation into Human Trafficking.

20 year old Kahli JOHNSON-PHILLIPS was arrested in Thunder Bay on Janaury 14, 2017 and has been charged with Trafficking in Persons Under 18 Years and Breach of Probation. He has been remanded into custody.

The second male is a young offender. He was arrested yesterday by the PEEL Regional Police and has been charged with:
– Trafficking in Persons Under 18 years
– Procuring
– Living on the Avails of Prostitution of a Person Under 18 Years
– Distribution of Child Pornography
