We Will Remember Them
THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thousands of people came out to Fort William Gardens to honour and show respect to the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and veterans of Canada’s long-standing commitment to peace and freedom on November 11th.
While the number of veterans from the major wars of the past are in ever smaller numbers, the crowds of people attending Remembrance Day services in Thunder Bay seem to grow every year.
Thunder Bay has a strong connection to the efforts of our men and women who have served in the armed services. From our city, thousands of young people have made the choice, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives to protect our freedoms.
At this year’s Fort William Gardens Remembrance Day Service, Ken Milenko from the Royal Canadian Legion gave an emotional talk sharing the battlefield tour he had made with a group of people to many of the World War One and World War Two battlefield.
Through his talk and pictures, the audience got to share a little of just how it was during the war for the soldiers who fought.
It was an emotional day, and one that in keeping with the tradition, Thunder Bay will never forget those who have served and sacrificed to preserve our freedoms.
