Kevin AnnessTHUNDER BAY – When Kevin Anness plays and sings with his guitar , your eyes close and your ears open to the haunting sounds of his voice. He leads you on a lyrical journey through one lone individual’s soul.

At 14 years old and living in the country Kevin spent a lot of time alone. He remembers having walked up and down the dirt road beside his house in the middle of the night , belting out 18 and Life by Skid Row.

“My parents didn’t have a musical influence on me growing up except my two grandmothers who were amazing in their art of accordion and piano.

His main influences stem from the classic rock era , Black Sabbath, Kiss, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and onto thrash metal.

“I like to be creative”, says Kevin. “I paint , write poetry and do wood working in my spare time and always like to think outside of the box when I create.Expanding ones own paradigm is absolutely essential in life”.

Tim Silvaggio Aka The Whitefish Wailer a well established veteran in the local music scene, gave Kevin his start at Newfies Pub well over 10 years ago.”He taught me how to really perform and practice my stage presence in front of a crowd and work them to its maximum potential.

“Upwards Spiral” , was the name of my three-piece band I put together in high school” he laughs remembering him and his band mates playing a gig at a high school function in front of hundreds of people.

“My advice is to take all criticism with a grain of salt. Take any negativity and use it to your advantage. Play the music for you and only you. Then play for everyone else”.

“POSITIVITY BREEDS POSITIVITY”
