More Snow in Forecast for Northern Manitoba

THUNDER BAY – Winter is coming. Over the past several weeks, winter and snow has hit across Northern Manitoba. This morning Environment Canada has snowfall warnings in effect again for a wide path across the northern part of Manitoba.

The heavy amounts of snow, will impact air travel and quite likely later this winter affect the winter roads network.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Shamattawa

Snowfall, with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected.

A low pressure system situated just southeast of Thompson is moving slowly east toward the Shamattawa region today. Snow associated with this low will continue today over northeast Manitoba before gradually diminishing tonight into Wednesday. Another 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected over the warning area by the time it tapers off Wednesday morning for totals of 10-20 cm.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.
