Extreme Weather in Dryden Causes Flooding and Washouts

DRYDEN – The impact of severe rain is being felt in Dryden. Mayor Wilson has issued the following statement:

The City of Dryden has experienced extreme weather since 2:30 p.m. Friday.

The City asks that all citizens stay off the streets as there are areas of flooding and washouts.   Citizens are asked to avoid the area of Highway 17 thru to the King Street underpass.   The City advises that the King Street underpass is closed and considered to be in dangerous condition.

At 10:00PM CDT Dryden Police reported: The Dryden Police Service is asking all citizen to stay away from the King Street underpass at this time as it is considered a dangerous condition. It has been closed to vehicle and foot traffic until further notice.

Again, please limit travel around the City as emergency crews respond to calls and assess other dangerous conditions.

All of Gordon Road

King Street Underpass

Highway 601 North to Thiel Road/Leach Road

One lane of Thiel Road is closed

One lane of Olsen’s Landing Road is closed.


Severe Rainfall had many of the streets – including roadways just off the Trans-Canada Highway covered in water. Rain amounts of almost 5 centimetres fell on the city in under ninety minutes, causing the flooding.
