THUNDER BAY – Police have Mark Boucher in custody. The Fort William First Nation man was arrested in the Cameron Street area after authorities received a tip he had been sighted at a residence in the area. Earlier there were reports on social media he had been seen in the Simpson Street area.
Anishinabek Police on Fort William First Nation first put out the alarm on Boucher after they responded to a call on a serious assault on the reserve. Thunder Bay Police and Ontario Provincial Police were called in after Boucher reportedly fled the scene and entered the woods near Chippewa Road.
Boucher had made, on social media, a lengthy post that suggested he was going to commit suicide.
Boucher was taken into custody without serious incident, although police had reported to the public he was to be considered armed and dangerous as well as a risk to the public.
