THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – 20:00 EDT – Storm Warning has Ended – Earlier – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect across the areas west of Thunder Bay. The watch was declared by Environment Canada at 17:06 EDT.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Armstrong – Auden – Wabakimi Park
  • Beardmore – Jellicoe – Macdiarmid
  • Gull Bay – Black Sturgeon Lake
  • Upsala – Raith
  • Dryden – Ignace – Vermillion Bay
  • Sioux Lookout

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
