On National Aboriginal Day, the community came together once again to host a parade, and events that brought out youth, adults, and community Elders.
Youth along with the Attawapiskat Chief were in Ottawa recently and met with the Prime Minister.
The community is looking for assistance to solve the problems faced in Attawapiskat.

Building for the future in all northern Ontario communities means investing in the youth. Attawapiskat has been working toward those goals for as long as the community has become a focal point in the main stream media. Often the good work and efforts of the local people and those who are trying to make a positive difference are not noticed, and are often not reported.
Attawapiskat through its community youth have a new school, have been the impetus for new efforts in education at the national level, and are bringing in the help that is needed.
Likely Attawapiskat is stronger and more willing to work to solutions than many realize.
