THUNDER BAY – CRIME – Thunder Bay Police report that the service has received a higher than normal volume of Break & Enters in the south side of the city recently.
In the month of March, officers have taken reports of over 40 incidents mostly in the Westfort and South Core residential areas.
The vast majority of the break and enters are almost always occurring during day time hours, specifically between 7:30AM EDT and 4:00PM EDT.
Westfort Crime Update
Through the month of March there were, on the south-side of Thunder Bay, 134 calls for service for both property crimes and break and enters. Additionally there were 77 incidents involving violence, and almost 200 Quality of Life calls which are usually alcohol or intoxicant or drug related calls.
Police state that “Typically the door at the back of the home has been kicked in to gain entry when no one is home. Small electronics, jewelry and other smaller valuable items have been taken”.

The police are also encouraging residents to keep an eye on each other’s property and to contact the police if they see any suspicious activity.
