THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Travel in Northwestern Ontario may be impacted by weather today. Environment Canada has issues freezing drizzle alerts for areas west of Thunder Bay.

Freezing Drizzle Advisory in effect for:
- Dryden – Vermilion Bay
- Ignace – English River
- Upsula – Raith
- Ear Falls – Perrault Falls – Western Lac Seul
- Red Lake – Woodland Caribou Park
- Savant Lake – Sturgeon Lake
- Sioux Lookout – Eastern Lac Seul
Areas of freezing drizzle are expected or occurring.
These weather conditions can also impact flying conditions for travellers heading through Sioux Lookout and other communities. Wasaya Airways reports, “We would like to advise all our guests travelling with us this morning of possible delays, misconnects, and cancellations due to freezing drizzle, freezing fog, mist and low ceilings forecast for Northwestern Ontario.”
Environment Canada reports, “An area of patchy freezing drizzle is expected to move into the region early this morning. The freezing drizzle may become heavier this morning and a freezing rain warning may be required.
“The threat of freezing drizzle and freezing rain will come to an end late this morning.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.”
Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when drizzle falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create icy surfaces.
