NIPIGON – CRIME REPORT – Members of the Marathon Ontario Provincial Police and Anishnabek Police Service (APS) officers investigated a recovered stolen vehicle. The male suspect was not located.
On December 4, 2015 a pickup truck was stolen from the Marathon area and located in the Town of Terrace Bay. Early last evening, Schreiber OPP officers attempted to apprehend the male suspect and were not successful. The male evaded police and the stolen vehicle was recovered at Hydro Bay Road, between the towns of Terrace Bay and Schreiber. The male suspect was not observed at this time.
This morning a pickup truck was stolen from a residence in the Town of Terrace Bay. After a high speed pursuit with police at Hwy 17 Township of Corrigal, the suspect drove the vehicle off of the roadway and into the ditch. The male is currently outstanding in the Township of Corrigal, east of the Town of Nipigon.
Members of the Nipigon OPP, North West Region K-9 Unit, and Emergency Response Team (ERT), continue to search for the male suspect east of Nipigon.
A reminder to the public to secure all residence doors and vehicles, do not leave your keys in your vehicle or leave it idling unattended. Do not pick up hitch hikers in the area of Hwy 17, or Hwy 11/17, Town of Nipigon.
