THUNDER BAY, ON – Community members and event hosts, Dana Levanto, Ashleigh Quarrell and Carly Ross were pleased to announce today that Dining in the Dark in Support of CNIB is returning for another year. Last year’s event raised important awareness and over $5,300 for CNIB’s clients.

A unique evening that will ignite the senses, Dining in the Dark will help guests to enjoy the aromas and textures of a delicious meal while wearing eye masks. There will also be a silent auction and live sensory auction to participate in. The event takes place on Thursday, March 3, 2016 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Victoria Inn. Tickets are just $100 each or $700 for a table of eight.

“We are very excited to host Dining in the Dark again this year,” said Quarrell. “We are trying to grow the event, so have picked a new location and are offering an early bird prize. We hope the community will support the event and in turn, those in our region who are blind or partially sighted. Aside from the rewards of helping out a great cause, attendees can expect a dining experience they won’t soon forget!”

CNIB is a registered charity, passionately providing community-based support, knowledge and a national voice to ensure Canadians who are blind or partially sighted have the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life.

In northwestern Ontario, there are more than 1300 active clients accessing CNIB’s services. This number does not include the many more people that could access those same services but have yet to do so, or the clients that have achieved their individual service goals with CNIB’s help.

“With less than 35 per cent of our funding coming from government sources, we rely heavily on individual and corporate donations,” said Rob Gaunt, Regional Manager, Service and Operations for CNIB – North Region. “Events such as this one help us to raise the funds and awareness we need to keep supporting our growing client base.”

All proceeds from Dining in the Dark will stay in northwestern Ontario to support local programs and services. The event is being generously sponsored by Tbaytel, Harbourview Optometry Centre, the Victoria Inn and Convention Centre, Print Pros Plus, Thunder Airlines, Potestio Law, The Chronicle Journal and Magic 99.9/Country 105.

Tickets are available online by finding the event on Eventbrite or Facebook: search for “Dining in the Dark in Support of CNIB Thunder Bay 2016”. They are also being sold (cash only) at CNIB on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. If tickets are purchased by December 21, 2015, the buyer will be eligible to win the event’s new early bird prize – a $250 Visa gift card.
